One Health initiative strategic plan
The One Health approach is a concept that has been recognized for many years, emphasizing the interdependence between human, animal, and plant health, and their link with ecosystems. Around 60% of emerging infectious diseases originate in animals, both wild and domestic. Antimicrobial resistance is a major public health challenge. Food security rests on four pillars: availability, access, use, and stability. Animal production is based on Genetics (breed selection) and Nutrition (improved pastures and environmental management).
The general aim of this concept is to improve animal production and health within the One Health concept.
